
Description
The Bachelor of Arts in English is designed to enable students to explore many aspects of English studies. The Department of English offers courses in composition, creative writing, film, literature, and literary theory. Mount Royal University offers students the option of pursuing either a Bachelor of Arts with a Major in English and a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in English. Admission to Major
The following are required for admission to the Bachelor of Arts with a major in English:
(a) English Language Arts 30-1 with 60%
(b) Mathematics 30 (Pure or Applied) or a second language at the 30-level.
Note: Students must declare a major before completing 20 courses in the Bachelor of Arts program. A cumulative GPA of 2.00 (“C” average) is required to be eligible for graduation.
Major Requirements for Graduation
Students must meet the general graduation requirements for the Bachelor of Arts with a Major as indicated in the Mount Royal University calendar. In addition, English Major students must meet the specific English course requirements outlined below.
Note: The major in English requires a minimum of 16 one-semester English courses. The maximum English courses that can be used for graduation purposes is 24.
