I) French-related MRU Awards:

1. Donna Cox Memorial Award

Eligibility:

Awarded to a full-time student who will be enrolled in the second, third, or fourth year of any program in the upcoming fall semester. Student must have completed a Mount Royal University French course in the current academic year.

 Criteria:1) Outstanding performance in any French course

2. Robert Spence Memorial Scholarship

Type:Scholarship
Value:Variable (50 per cent of average full-time tuition, indexed to match any annual increase in tuition)

Eligibility:Awarded to a full-time student who will be enrolled in the second, third or fourth year of any program in the upcoming fall semester. The applicant must be a Canadian citizen.
Criteria:1) Academic proficiency - minimum GPA of 2.7
2) Extracurricular activities - community or volunteer involvement
3) Financial need
4) A short essay of 500 words or less, outlining (a) career goals, (b) academic goals and (c) any French language experience the student may have - including French spoken at home, French language study or previous enrollment in a French immersion / bilingual program

3. Award of the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada / Association des universités et collèges du Canada (AUCC):
Queen Elizabeth II Silver Jubilee Endowment Fund for Study in a Second Official Language Award (link to:https://juno.aucc.ca/wes/hes.aspx?pg=934&oth=0005122011)

Fields of study: All disciplines, except translation.
Eligibility:1. Applications are by nomination by the candidate's university. Each member institution of the AUCC may nominate only one candidate and the application must be duly endorsed by that institution;
2. Candidates must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada;
3. Candidates must be currently enrolled in the second or third year of their first bachelor degree program. Candidates attending an institution in Quebec can be enrolled in the first year of their first bachelor degree program;
4. Candidates must have sufficient ability in their second official language to pursue their studies in that language.
Selection:Preference will be given to candidates who wish to study at another educational institution, in a milieu in which their second official language is predominant. 
Value and duration of the Awards:$7,000 CAD tenable for one year;
Transportation expenses for one return trip (economy) between the recipient's place of residence and the university to be attended;
A letter of congratulations signed by the Minister of Canadian Heritage.
Number of Awards:Up to 3 awards at the bachelor degree level.

II) Eva Rosenberg Memorial Scholarship
(Eva Rosenberg was a valued German and French instructor in the Department of Languages and Cultures from 1979 to 1999.)

III) Italian-related MRU awards:

1. Calgary Italian Sportsman Dinner Association Legacy Scholarship

Eligibility:Awarded to a full- or part-time student who will be enrolled in the second, third or fourth year of any program in the upcoming fall semester. The student must have successfully completed Beginners' Italian (ITAL 2201) and/or Beginners' Italian II (ITAL 2203) by the end of the current academic year.
Criteria:1) Academic proficiency - minimum GPA of 3.50
2) Financial need
3) Extra-curricular activities - demonstrated community and/or campus involvement. Preference will be given to a student with demonstrated involvement with a cultural club within the city of Calgary.

2. Calgary Italian Sportsman Dinner Association Scholarship

Eligibility:Awarded to a full- or part-time student who will be enrolled in the second, third or fourth-year of any program at Mount Royal in the upcoming fall semester. The student must have successfully completed Beginners Italian (ITAL 2201) by the end of the current academic year.
