Romance Studies

Romance Studies explores both the common and unique features of three of the four major cultural groups who inhabit the Mediterranean basin — Arabic, French, Italian and Spanish. Each has had a profound influence on the development of other cultures over the centuries. By studying them we can gain valuable insights into our own cultural development.

Diverse lessons

With Calgary becoming such a diverse cultural area, learning about these three cultures will give you a greater appreciation for their customs and unique contributions to the world. There will also be class excursions which will provide opportunities to experience the music and dance, folklore, film and cuisine of these ethnic communities in Calgary.
