Carmen Pearson joined the Mount Royal English Department August 2006 and will be teaching composition, technical writing and literature. Between 2002-4, she taught English composition, rhetoric and technical writing at The University of Houston in Texas. Carmen’s Ph.D. is in American Literature, with a specialization in Modernist studies. Two books resulting from these studies include: The Orange Tree, a posthumous novel by Mildred Walker, edited by Carmen and published in 2006 by University of Nebraska Press; and Modernism and Mildred Walker: A Critical Study, written by Carmen, forthcoming by University of Nebraska Press. Carmen is an active member of The Western Literature Association, The Society for the Study of American Women Writers, The Association for the Study of Literature and the Environment, The Society for Multi-Ethnic Studies in Europe and the Americas, as-well-as The Space Between - Modernist Studies Association and regularly contributes papers in both journals and conferences to these organizations. Her creative non-fiction has appeared in various publications. Carmen and her family are long-time residents of a small farm in Bragg Creek.
