David Hyttenrauch has a primary interest in late medieval literature, particularly Arthurian romance, and has enjoyed teaching composition and a broad range of dramatic literature courses. Coming to medieval literature through J.R.R. Tolkien (himself a medieval philologist), David has not only published and presented on Tolkien’s work but also taught fantasy literature, with a special emphasis on Tolkien’s texts, and served as dramaturge on two professional theatre productions of The Hobbit. From 2002-2005, he was Chair of Mount Royal's Academic Council and since 2005, he has been President of the Mount Royal Faculty Association.
