Dean's Message
As you consider your education and career goals, I welcome you to consider one of the many programs offered by the Bissett School of Business.
Since the 1950s, Mount Royal has offered courses in business. We have established a tradition of offering innovative business education programs and have established sought after diploma and degree options.
Our milestones include: a co-op business diploma program almost 20 years ago, launching the Canadian undergraduate degree in nonprofit studies in 2002, celebrating national awards won by Bissett School of Business students, including the 2004 Student Entrepreneur of the Year. New in 2008, the Bissett School of Business is proud to offer its first undergraduate degree — Bachelor of Business Administration.
The nationally renowned Mount Royal Aviation program — now entering its 40th year — is also offered through the Bissett School of Business. When this diploma began, it was the first integrated academic and flight training aviation program in the country.
Today, the Bissett School of Business offers a wide array of undergraduate degrees, applied degrees, diploma and certificate programs to approximately 1,800 full-time Bissett students. Our programs cover: Accounting, Aviation, Financial Services, General Business, Human Resources, Insurance, Marketing, Nonprofit Studies, Supply Chain Management, Entrepreneurship and our undergraduate Bachelor of Business Administration with concentrations in Accounting, General Management, Human Resources and Marketing.
In August 2003, we moved into our new purpose-built space for our growing student body. Students in the Bissett School of Business benefit from work experiences through co-op placements and directed field studies, small class sizes for personalized instruction, faculty with relevant industry experience, opportunities to compete in university and college business competitions across Canada and partnerships with numerous professional associations and industries.
What best characterizes the Bissett School of Business is our commitment to quality and to the individual student. We offer relevant and responsive education that prepares you for a range of careers in today’s global economy.
We also encourage our students to be involved in the School of Business, our student associations and in the college and local community. There are lots of opportunities to participate in a variety of programs and events.
We believe programs offered in the Bissett School of Business focus and prepare students for the career path of their choice. It is also my hope that at the end of their two- or four-year program, they will be broadly educated, enterprising and socially conscious individuals looking to make a lasting contribution to their communities as well as finding success in business and industry.
