Anita Angelini

Degree: MA

Anita holds a Master’s Degree in Education from Stanford University, and an undergraduate degree from The University of Calgary. She is a full-time instructor in Canada’s only Applied Bachelor Degree Program in Nonprofit Studies offered at the Bissett School of Business. Courses that Anita teaches include: Governance, Ethical Issues in the Nonprofit Sector, Volunteer Management, Principles of Management, Directed Field Studies, and Business Communications.

At Mount Royal, Anita is the faculty advisor for the Collegiate Chapter of the Association of Professional Fundraisers (AFP), is active in student leadership programming, and is a member of the Code of Student Conduct Revision steering committee. For 2006/2007 Anita is one of 10 College faculty members working with the Academic Development Centre to develop and apply blended delivery techniques to course offerings.

Anita’s research agenda includes conducting a major review of the literature existing on non-profit governance. This review contributes to a first of its kind research project focused on enriching the capacity of directors in their roles as governors. Anita also conducted peer-learning/ action-learning research centered on Strengthening the Capacity of Executive Directors in the non-profit sector. Her research has been conducted in partnership with the Institute for Non-profit Studies at Mount Royal.

She has presented the results of her research at the Association for Researchon Non-profit Organizations and Voluntary Action (ARNOVA) conferences in Los Angeles (2005) and Washington D.C. (2006), and at the National Affinity Group Meeting of Non-profit Educators and the Human Resource Development Council for the Non-profit Sector meeting in Alberta (2006). At Vitalize 2006, Anita facilitated a workshop on Governance, and another workshop, to a full-house, on the theme of Sustainable Development in the Non-profit Sector.

Anita’s professional background includes running her own consulting practice through which she has: facilitated core courses in the Certificate in Adult Learning offered through the University of Calgary; conducted change management planning for a large, public organization; facilitated learning communities workshops with oil and gas industry, government, and first-nations representatives; and, has offered governance workshops to national and local non-profit organizations.

Prior to establishing her consulting practice, Anita was working in Moscow, Russia as a manager of Learning and Development with the world’s leading professional services firm: PricewaterhouseCoopers. Her work with PwC extended across central and eastern Europe.
