Education: Heather Ray completed her Bachelor of Kinesiology at the University of Calgary. She then went on to complete her Masters in Kinesiology and is currently a PhD student in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Calgary.
Current Work: Heather is an instructor in both in the Physical Education and Recreation Studies University Transfer Program and the Personal Fitness Trainer Program. In addition to instructing she is also an Exercise Physiologist, Personal Trainer and Reiki Master.
Instructor Profile: Instructor Profile: Heather’s area of instructional specialization includes exercise physiology and biomechanics. She has been an instructor at Mount Royal College since January 2002.
Community Service/Research Interests:
As a volunteer, Heather currently sits as a member on the Mount Royal College Curriculum Review Board, as well as the Mount Royal Fitness Center Committee. She is a member of both the Canadian Society of Exercise Physiology and the Complimentary and Alternative Medicine Education and Research Network of Alberta.
Heather’s current research interests include those related to Alternative Medicine Frameworks, specifically the importance of reduced re-occurrence rates in Breast Cancer survivors. Her most recent research was The Stressing Student Success study. This team project assessed the effect of 4 different intervention strategies on the level of perceived stress among students. Heather was presented the Mount Royal College Effective Team Award in recognition of this projects accomplishments and its benefits to the College community.
