Jim maintains his legal practice; in addition, he has taught a variety of face-to-face and online law and insurance courses at Mount Royal University over the past nine years (the last three years as a full-time faculty member with the Bissett School of Business).
His exceptional student evaluations are evidence of how his undergraduate degree in education and experience teaching high school students (prior to working as a lawyer, Jim was a full-time high school teacher for several years) have impacted positively on his teaching at Mount Royal. Since being called to the bar in 1997, Jim has worked as a lawyer in a variety of capacities. His work in a large full-service traditional law firm, as in-house counsel, and as legal counsel with the Alberta Securities Commission is a great complement for our Financial Services and Accounting concentrations. More recently, he has done legal work with the Nonprofit Sector including providing legal services for Alberta Health Services. His fifteen years of directly related professional legal experience allows him to draw from a range of experiences to supplement material covered in his courses.
