Martin Haworth completed a diploma in Business Administration from Ryerson Polytechnical Institute in 1972. He received a Bachelor of Arts (Economics) degree from York University in 1977 and completed his Masters in Economics degree from the University of Calgary in 1988.
Prior to launching his teaching career, Martin held a number of Administrative/Management positions with both the Royal Bank of Canada and the Bank of Nova Scotia. In 1980, he received the Fellowship of the Institute of Canadian Bankers (FICB).
Martin joined Mount Royal in 1988, teaching in both the Department of Business Administration and the Department of Economics and Political Science. He taught courses in Business Statistics, Business Math and Economics as a part-time instructor until 1995 when he commenced teaching Quantitative Methods for the School of Business on a full-time basis. Martin also assumed the role of coordinator of the Quantitative Methods area. He is currently the program chair of the Business and Entrepreneurship degree and the University Transfer program.
Martin is an active member of the Mount Royal community and has served on a number of committees. Some of these committees are Academic Council, the Program and Policy Committee, the Faculty Evaluations Committee, the Human Rights Committee, Teaching, Learning and Technology Roundtable and Academic Awards. Martin has twice been nominated for the Distinguished Faculty Teaching Award.
Martin has also taught, on a part-time basis, for both Athabasca University and the University of Calgary.
