Melanie brings enthusiasm as well as a diverse professional and educational background to the Bissett School of Business. Melanie has been extensively involved in professional HR initiatives as a senior manager, independent HR consultant and educator. Also, as part of her passion for and commitment to the HR profession, Melanie volunteers on the Board of Directors for the Human Resources Institute of Alberta.
As a senior manager in a variety of corporate environments, Melanie has led HR teams that create and implement numerous processes and systems that enable organizations to engage their employees and achieve strong results. Melanie’s recent HR work includes facilitating strategic planning and team building sessions, editing HR textbooks, developing corporate performance management systems, and developing/implementing corporate training programs. In addition, she is currently authoring a textbook on employee training and development for McGraw Hill Ryerson.
Melanie is active both in her community and the human resources professional community. She enthusiastically promotes the value of the CHRP designation to business colleagues and actively recruits new associate members. Melanie is currently working with the HRIA Board to research the changing CHRP certification requirements due to national standardization. Melanie uses her tremendous knowledge and practical experience to develop and facilitate a program that enables HRIA associate members to prepare to write the National Knowledge exam as part of the new CHRP requirements. Melanie is excited and committed to advancing the standing of the HR profession provincially, nationally and internationally.
Melanie, with more than 15 years of human resource management experience and a sound commitment to the field of HR, obtained her Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Alberta and her MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business (University of Western Ontario).
