Shiraz Kurji

Shiraz Kurji teaches in the Bissett School of Business in the areas of Financial and Management Accounting. He started his teaching career at Mount Royal College with the Faculty of Continuing Education and Extension in 1993. He joined the Bissett School of Business as a Part-time Faculty member in 1998 and accepted a Full time position in 2003. Over the years, he has taught at other educational institutions including the University of Lethbridge.

Shiraz holds a Bachelor of Arts degree with Honours in Economics and Sociology as well as a Bachelor of Philosophy degree in Economics from the University of Nairobi. He is also a professional accountant and holds a CMA designation.

His accounting career started with Peat, Marwick, Mitchell and Co. (presently KPMG) where he articled. Shiraz continued in his profession while employed at Petro-Canada in the corporate accounting division. Following his work with Petro-Canada, he worked as a partner in an accounting firm with another CMA.

With his years of experience in audit and tax, he brings to his class real world experience from industry and business.

Shiraz has been active in the community including active participation in the Lions and Rotary organizations. He has also been a very active member of Toastmasters International.
