Dr. Allan Dwyer, CFA is a former financial analyst and investment banker.
He worked for several global financial institutions, residing in Tokyo for over
a decade. Allan specialized in the analysis and marketing of international
equities and equity derivatives. He returned to Canada in 2005 to enter academia.
He has a PhD from Memorial University and an MBA (Int’l) from the Schulich School
of Business. Allan is also a CFA charter holder. His teaching specialties are in the
fields of managerial finance, financial markets and investment analysis.
Born in Montreal, he speaks English, French and Japanese.
Allan’s multidisciplinary PhD research focused on the impact of large economic
and business systems on migrants and indigenous peoples in borderland areas,
where differing political systems and cultures compete. His current research
interests focus on the analysis of the sovereign debt issues of emerging market
countries, especially those with oil & gas industrial complexes.
Of particular interest to him are the interrelationships between sovereign
credit ratings, political risk, and human security.
