International Business Minor

There is no doubt, that all companies — large and small — are impacted by global events. A growing percentage of the world’s business involves two or more countries. In fact some would argue most businesses involve some form of international trade.  Understanding international business and the culture of international exchanges is increasingly important. This series of international business courses in this minor is designed for students who want to be engaged in the global economy.  

The minor in International Business offers an understanding of international trade, the marketing of goods and services internationally, co-operation with foreign partners and even an option to explore the launch of business venture beyond Canadian borders.

Professional designation

Upon completion of these courses you will have an opportunity to earn a Forum for International Trade Training (FITT) diploma. After one year of international trade experience, you will be eligible to apply for the Certified International Trade Professional (CITP) designation.

Career choices

Graduates can apply their professional skills in a wide array of organizations, from small enterprises or large manufacturing concerns to the public sector or industry associations.
Your job title could be:

  • Market research analyst — study opportunities for the company’s products or services in specific markets.
  • International marketing representative — develop and execute strategies for developing foreign markets.
  • International shipping specialist — arrange and coordinate international shipments and prepare necessary documentation on behalf of exporters.

Further education

The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) prepares you for Master of Business Administration (MBA) programs as well as other graduate studies.
