Directed Field Studies

Real world experiences

The Directed Field Studies component is one of the strengths of the applied degree in Financial Services. The DFS will be an exciting and challenging part of your education. The two employer-paid, four-month work terms give you an opportunity to gain experience, make contacts and apply classroom theory on the job.

Getting the right opportunity

Career Services works closely with you and employers to find placements and monitor your work experience. You will also complete assignments and other reports to fulfill the academic requirements of these 15-credit DFS courses.

“I have only good things to say about my experience with the Mount Royal student we hired. She was very efficient, hardworking and eager to learn all aspects of the business — from helping manage daily tasks and booking appointments on our behalf to meeting with clients face to face and helping build a sample financial plan for future clients. I was impressed by the knowledge she had.”
