Curriculum & Courses

The BBA is comprised of:

• 17 Core business courses
• 9 Major courses in Accounting, General Management, Human Resources or Marketing
• 12 General Education courses
• 2 Electives

Students also have the option to pursue a minor offered by any Faculty at Mount Royal University. Students enrolled in the General Management major are encouraged to pursue one of the following minors offered by the Bissett School of Business.

Students are encouraged to consult a Business Advisor before choosing their major and elective courses.

Accounting Major

General Management Major

General Management courses may be chosen from business courses or  other courses taught by any other Faculty or Department at MRU (some restrictions apply). Students may choose to complete any minor that MRU offers. Please consult with a Business Advisor if you have questions about choosing your General Management major courses.

Human Resources Major

HRES Option courses include any two of the following: ANTH 2213, DAST 1205, INBU 2201, LSCM 4407, MGMT 4402, MGMT 4407, MGMT 4431, NPRO 2247, NPRO 3305, PHIL 2229, PSYC 2283, PSYC 2285, SLGY 2233, SLGY 2265, SLGY 2275 and WMST 1172. Exceptions require Departmental approval.

Marketing Major

MKTG Option courses include any two of the following: ACOM 2003, COMM 1841, ENTR 2301, ENTR 3302 INBU 3302, INBU 3304, INBU 3305, INBU 3306, INBU 3307, INBU 4408, MGMT 2275, MKTG 3253 and MKTG 3254. Exceptions require Departmental approval.

General Education

All students must complete a total of 12 General Education courses from four thematic clusters.

*The four Level 3 General Education courses must be taken from at least two clusters.

Electives

An elective is a course which is not specified for a program but counts towards a degree. Electives can be any three-credit course, at any level.

*BBA students will be required to take an additional elective course in place of INBU 3301 since it is a Core Requirement for the degree.
