Public Relations Professor
Allison MacKenzie, BA, MBA, MA COMM, ABC is a results-oriented, communications generalist with more than 20 years of experience facilitating effective strategic communication between organizations and their stakeholders. As a tenured associated professor in the Faculty of Communications - Public Relations, Allison teaches a wide variety of courses including Strategic Communication Planning, Public Relations Management and Applied Writing I and II. Outside of the classroom she is extensively involved in University administration, serving as an executive member of the Faculty Association, as well as a member of numerous other administrative committees.
Her extensive public relations background includes not-for-profit, for profit, government, education and fund raising. Prior to joining Mount Royal University, Allison was the Director of External Relations at the University of Calgary, Senior Director of Communications at The United Way of Calgary and Area, International Marketing Manager at Macleod Dixon LLP, Director of Communications at the Law Society of Alberta and Internal Communications Officer at the Edmonton Police Service. Allison is currently the Chair of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Academy and is past president of IABC's Calgary chapter.
