Education: Kandi completed her Masters of Human Kinetics degree from the University of Windsor in 1988.

Current Work: Kandi is the Director of Wellness Services at Mount Royal University. As Director of Wellness Services, she works with a committed team of individuals bring health and wellness services and initiatives to the MRU community. She has worked at Mount Royal for twenty years in various roles.

Instructor Profile: Kandi began teaching in the Physical Education and Recreation Studies department in 1992. Over the years she has taught a variety of courses including Leadership, Cardiovascular Fitness, Relaxation and Flexibility, and Wellness and the Student.

Community Service/Research Interests:
Kandi is committed to furthering the health and wellness of people. She was an Advisory Board Member for the Alberta Centre for Active Living. She has continued to work with this organization to bring the Annual Physical Activity Forum to MRU and community members over the past four years.

In addition, Kandi has had leadership positions within CACUSS, the Canadian Association of College and University Student Services. She has been an active board member a division of CACUSS called COUCH, the Canadian Organization of University and College Health, most recently finishing a term of President Elect, President for two years and Past President. She is currently working on a national initiative for Canadian Post-secondary Institution (PSI) students to participate in a survey during the same period. Twenty five to thirty PSI will participate in the national initiative during January to April 2013.

Kandi is involved in the President’s Task Force for Student Mental Health working with the President David Docherty to develop a comprehensive strategy for MRU. She also contributes to a National Working group on mental health in post-secondary institutions.

Kandi is an external member to the Wellness Advisory Committee for the University of Calgary.
