Message from the Associate Dean – Stephen Price, PhD
Colleagues and friends,
I was appointed to the position of interim associate dean, Faculty of Health and Education (FHCE) in July 2016, and am proud to continue to work alongside a passionate and dedicated team of 78 full-time faculty, 35 exempt/contract support staff and approximately 200 part-time faculty that embody our vision of being Canada’s leading collaborative practice faculty.
My graduate studies are in higher education leadership, with a focus on student engagement — a direct reflection of my passion for students and for higher education. Prior to joining Mount Royal, I was a highschool teacher in Fort McMurray, AB, where I taught science to students in grades nine to twelve. Furthermore, I have previous experience as a college basketball coach and in MRU’s central academic advising office. My pedagogical background, combined with my dedication to post-secondary, demonstrates my passion for collaboration — achieving more through teamwork, shared skills and knowledge.
As another semester quickly draws to a close, I am happy to share highlights of the extraordinary research and scholarship activities in which our students and faculty are involved. The FHCE Strategic Plan — ‘Together We Can’ articulates a need to promote a culture of inspired intellectual curiosity; to capitalize on opportunities to augment research capacity; and to undertake partnerships with our community to facilitate evidence-informed practice. I will continue to strive to provide support for the Faculty of Health, Community and Education in curriculum development, international experiences for students and support in their scholarship and research.
