Degrees: RM, CNM, MS
Assistant Professor

For over three decades Debbie has been a practicing midwife and has been present at the births of over 2,000 babies. One of her passions as a midwife has been clinical teaching. She is happy to bring her experience and love of midwifery to Mount Royal as a faculty member in the Bachelor of Midwifery program.

Debbie received her undergraduate degree in Nursing from the Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in 1985. In 1987 her family moved to Portland, Oregon so she could pursue her Master’s degree in the Nurse-Midwifery program at the Oregon Health Sciences University. In the summer of 2009 she was a member of a team of midwives that went to a remote area of Nicaragua with Medical Teams International to teach Emergency Skills to indigenous midwives. She has a special interest in International Midwifery and is delighted to be an Internationally educated midwife practicing here in Canada.

She is the mother of 4 adult children who plan to visit often and has been married to her husband, Jonathan for 30 years. She enjoys hiking and camping and is thrilled to be spending time in the beautiful Canadian Rockies.
