Beyond your degree

Although the intent of applied degrees is to prepare students for careers, graduates of the Bachelor of Applied Justice Studies Degree have been able to use their undergraduate education to pursue further professional and graduate studies. Many universities recognize graduates of this four-year degree have a solid grounding in criminological theory, research methods and university-transferable Arts and Science offerings.

Graduate programs

Graduates have earned direct admission into the following graduate programs:

  • Master of Arts in Criminology at Simon Fraser University
  • Master of Arts in Sociology and Criminology at the University of Windsor
  • Master of Arts in Human Security and Peace-building at Royal Roads University
  • University of Victoria's Interdisciplinary Master of Arts in Dispute Resolution
  • Master of Arts in Criminal Justice at the University College of the Fraser Valley

Law schools

As well, graduates of the Bachelor of Applied Justice Studies Degree have earned direct admission into law schools at the following Canadian universities:

  • Dalhousie University
  • University of British Columbia
  • University of Victoria
  • University of Saskatchewan
  • University of Manitoba
  • University of New Brunswick

Note: Universities in Alberta do not recognize any applied degree for admission into graduate studies or law school. Discussions are ongoing to address this issue.
