Real world experiences
The directed field studies component is one of the strengths of the applied degree program. The DFS can be an exciting and challenging part of your education. The employer-paid work term gives you an opportunity to gain experience, make contacts and apply classroom theory on the job. In a DFS, you will work full-time (equivalent of five days per week) for 16 weeks. Most students complete their directed field studies during the spring/summer after their second year of study.
Getting the right opportunity
The DFS placements are developed through consultation with the Advisory Committee and justice agencies. You will also complete assignments and other reports to fulfill the academic requirements of these 15-credit DFS courses.
