  1. What do I do after I receive my CARNA letter?
    Follow the directions on your CARNA letter. If CARNA has advised that you take Bridge to Canadian Nursing courses, your next step is to apply to Mount Royal University

    If CARNA requires you to schedule an SEC Assessment, please contact the Assessment Centre.

     
  2. How do I start the process for application to the BCN program?
    You will begin by applying to the BCN Program at Mount Royal University. There are three ways to apply:
    • Apply in person at the Registrar’s Office (Room A101),
    • Apply on-line
    • Apply in writing by completing a hard copy application form. Please contact the BCN Program office.
      Please remember to submit your most recent CARNA letter and up to date English language scores when applying. You require Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) of 6 for entrance into LEVEL I courses and CLB’s of 8 (or equivalent) for entrance into LEVEL II courses.

  4. How long does it take after I apply to get into the program?
    After submitting all the prerequisite documentation (most recent CARNA letter and up to date English language scores), you will be notified by the BCN program of your acceptance into the program usually within 3 weeks. If your documentation is not included in your application, an advisor will contact you to request your current information.

     
  5. After registering for the program what is the next step?
    The next step is to enroll into your courses. You will be notified by mail or e-mail with course numbers and the procedure for enrolling into classes.

     
  6. How long does it take to complete each class?
    The BCN courses follow the semester format and take 6 weeks to complete. The Mount Royal University Calendar will provide information on start and end dates for each semester. You can view the Academic Calendar on-line or visit the Mount Royal University Bookstore to purchase a copy.

     
  7. Can I register and take classes in more than one Level at a time?
    No, unless you have special permission from the department each level of the BCN program is a prerequisite to the next level.

     
  8. How many classes can I take at one time?
    Check with your BCN academic advisor.
     
  9. What are the costs?
    The approximate cost of one 3 credit course is around five hundred and fifty dollars.

     
  10. When do I have to pay my fees?
    Fee deadlines appear on the Mount Royal University website. It is the student’s responsibility to pay their fees by the deadline or they will be dropped from their courses and will have to pay a penalty to re-register. Please see the Academic Calendar for details.

     
  11. Where do I obtain information about funding?
    Funding information is available from the Skills Investment Program at Mount Royal University.
