Penny has been working as a Registered Nurse with critically ill adults for over 20 years in multisystem Intensive Care Units in the US (Oklahoma) and Calgary. She has been an educator in a variety of capacities including community-hospital liaison in Stillwater, OK, Clinical Nurse Educator at the Rockyview General Hospital ICU/CCU in Calgary, and as an Instructor with Mount Royal University.

Professional interests include the integration of new graduate nurses in the ICU community of practice through cognitive apprenticeship and family-centred care initiatives that involve front-line staff.

Penny is a member of the Canadian Association of Critical Care Nurses and maintains a casual staff RN position at the RGH ICU/CCU.
