Internationally Educated Nurses Assessment Centre

The Internationally Educated Nurses (IEN) Assessment Centre is located at Mount Royal University in Calgary and Edmonton, Alberta.

Our Vision: To help IENs pursue a nursing career in Alberta by providing Substantially Equivalent Competency (SEC) assessment services which support the completion of nursing registration requirements.

The IEN Assessment Centre is dedicated to assisting nurses educated in other countries as part of the registered nurse credentialing process by the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Through a variety of assessment strategies, we assess professional knowledge, judgment and skills of IENs and support them in completing their registration requirements in Alberta. SEC assessments are completed at one of two sites in Alberta.
