Mount Royal University announces the closure of the Integrative Heath Institute
Mount Royal University announces the closure of the Integrative Heath Institute (IHI) effective June 30, 2013. Research institutes at Mount Royal are required to be financially self-sustaining from external sources; funds to sustain IHI's operations past June 30, 2013 have not been forthcoming.
IHI was Canada's first post-secondary institute dedicated to advancing complementary and alternative health education and practice, and since its inception in 2005, has earned a local and national reputation. This has largely been a result of the outstanding leadership, vision and dedication to IHI and its initiatives provided by Elaine Danelesko during her time as IHI Director. IHI’s research interests, essential to the Faculty of Health and Community Studies' mission, will continue to be advanced by the Faculty. The Faculty of Continuing Education and Extension will support IHI’s strategic education interests with ongoing program development related to complementary health education.
Many thanks to IHI’s stakeholders – the research community, community partners, health and human services personnel, numerous faculty, staff and students for your contributions, involvement and support.
