Scotland Field School: Sustainability in the Cairngorms National Park
Participants in the spring 2017 Scotland field school will complete over two weeks of field-based learning on various topics related to Environmental Sustainability and Social and Economic Sustainability in a National Parks context while earning credit for GNED 3101 and GNED 3301 (total: 6 credits).

Program Travel DatesMay 18 - June 3, 2017
Note: Participants will attend on-campus lectures and preparations at MRU both before and after the actual travel dates. Participants must be available from May 3 - June 16, 2017.
EligibilityThe field school is open to all students.
Course requirements for GNED 3101 and 3301 are one previous course in Cluster 1 and one previous course in Cluster 3.

Application ProcessDownload the official Field School Application Form.
Submit the following to the Office of International Education (EB 3021) by December 1, 2016:
- The completed Field School Application Form
- A short essay (less than 200 words) describing your interest in these particular courses
After December 1 you will be advised of your acceptance. Successful applicants will need to pay the initial program fee deposit (see below) by December 15, 2016 to confirm their spot in the field school.
Program CostsScotland Field School Program Fees - $4,374.00
The Scotland Field School Program Fees include local transportation in Scotland, accommodation, course-related activities and excursions, some meals, faculty expenses, MRU administration fee, honoraria for guest lecturers and gratuities.
Program fees are payable in person at the Office of the Registrar (A101) using the blue Field School Payment Slip, according go the payment deadlines outlined in the following table. The blue payment slip can be obtained from the Office of International Education (EB 30210 after acceptance in to the program.

*Initial program deposit is non-refundable and secures the participant's place in the program. Possibility of refund of subsequent deposits due to withdrawal from the program will be assessed and determined at the time of withdrawal. Refund of subsequent program fees are not guaranteed. Program fees do not include course tuition.
MRU Tuition & General Fees
MRU tuition and fees for GNED 3101 (3 credits) and GNED 3301 (3 credits) are in addition to the program fees and will be assessed to each student's account in April 2017. They are payable to MRU by the spring 2017 fee payment deadline.
Additional Student Expenses
Student are responsible for all additional expenses not included in the program fees such as return airfare to Scotland, trip interruption and cancellation insurance, travel health and medical insurance, passport, meals not covered in the program fee, travel essentials, personal spending, etc. Estimates of additional student costs are available from the Office of International Education.Contact Information:Kathy Rettie - email@example.com
