SPRING 2012
A CULTURAL AND GEOGRAPHIC DISCOVERY OF THE MEDITERRANEAN: FRANCE AND SPAIN

Tired of sitting in a stuffy classroom during lectures? Want to practice your Spanish or French in a new environment? Looking for a 3rd year Gen Ed course or a 3rd year Geography course for Geography minor? Planning on majoring in Spanish? Then this Field Study tour is just for you! Get out of the classroom, learn and earn 6 credits while travelling in France and Spain!

The focus of this Field Study tour is to observe and learn about the history, culture and physical geography of select locations in France and Spain. While the itinerary highlights significant and diverse cultural, historical and geographic landscapes along the Mediterranean coast (Provence, the French Riviera and the Spanish Costa del Sol), we will also visit Paris, France, and Granada and Madrid, Spain.

By comparing and contrasting the places we visit, you will gain a deeper understanding and a broader appreciation of cultural, economic, political, social and environmental issues and challenges. Enjoy the Mediterranean sunshine, food, landscapes and earn 3 general education arts credits (ROST 4401- Mediterranean Cultural Discovery) and 3 science credits (GEOGRAPHY 3109- Overseas Field Study in Physical Geography)!
