Ecotourism Field School to Peru

Students will have the opportunity to earn 6 science credits for PHED 4511 while studying in Peru, South America. This Field School is only open to Ecotourism and Outdoor Leadership applied degree students who will have completed their 4th semester by the time of departure, including taken at minimum one Spanish course. Peru, although considered a third world country is dependable on tourism for national economic stability and growth, and therefore is considered a safe travel destination for many tourists from around the globe. Students will have the opportunity to study Spanish at a language school and stay in a homestay with a local family. They will also experience regions such as world famous Machu Picchu, the amazon jungle of Manu Park, trekking on the Comino Salcantay, and cities such as Cusco, and Lima. The Peru Field School will provide students with an educational opportunity to explore different approaches to Ecotourism and to contribute to its responsible growth internationally.
