Public Relations graduate goes global in Geneva
Mount Royal alumna Jill Peacock says that the most rewarding part of her job as a communications officer for the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) in Geneva, Switzerland, is the chance she’s had to meet and work with people from a variety of nationalities.
”I’m learning to see things from other perspectives,” says Peacock, who completed her Applied Communications degree in Public Relations in 2002. “I find my own beliefs are challenged on a nearly daily basis.”
The WBCSD’s mandate is to provide information to its member corporations on topics ranging from financial risk and corporate social responsibility to environmental issues.
“My goal is to meet more people of different international backgrounds, and not stick exclusively with the Canadians, as there are many of us here. It's easy to stay with the familiar, but I want to break out a bit from the norm.”
