Mount Royal grad named 2004 PACE Outstanding Alumnus

Mount Royal graduate Scott Coates was honoured at the Provincial Awards Celebrating Excellence on May 7, winning in the category of Outstanding Alumnus. Coates has made a name for himself and his company, Smiling Albino, by putting his Mount Royal education to work far beyond Canada’s borders. After he graduated in 1999 with a Bachelor of Applied Communications (Journalism), Coates and a business partner created an adventure travel company that immerses its clientele into the heart of Thailand. Smiling Albino gives travellers a chance to experience Thai culture as well as give back to the country by participating in volunteer projects.

The PACE program was introduced in 2002 to recognize the social and economic contributions made by graduates of Alberta’s public colleges and technical institutes.
