What our participants said....
"Before I studied on CSHP, my speaking ability and communication skills were ineffective, and I did not know much about Canadian culture in terms of health care services. While studying on the course, I have learnt many things which are very useful for my profession, such as soft skills, comprehensive communication skills between doctors and patients and other health professionals in the workplace, and Canadian culture. More importantly, I have learnt about the practice of patient centred care. After finishing the course, I feel very confident about how to approach patients and commmunicate with colleagues properly, and it will definitely help me in future to pass the MCCQE2 and OSCE which require highly effective communication skills."

"This course is an excellent opportunity to learn and practice professional communication. I have found that it has an influence on my personal communication – how I express myself to my family, friends and strangers. I have thought a lot about showing empathy towards my patients and others and I have learned to be authentic to both. I have appreciated this time to learn and think how to apply this new knowledge and my confidence has increased every week. I look forward to applying all the skills and knowledge I have learned to my work as an RN."

" This program is very helpful to me and I advise every internationally educated health professional to avail themselves of this course. I was exposed to the Canadian healthcare system and was equipped with the do's and dont's in the health care professions in Canada. I am happy that I was part of this program because I am more confident to practice and communicate in my field, either nursing or midwifery."

“I believe that this is a highly recommended course for Internationally Educated Health Professionals because it is a good venue to network with other IEHPs. Their experiences and their strategies of coping are good examples especially for me who is new in Canada. Also through this course, I felt more confident in communicating without fear of being misunderstood. The filming with simulation patients prepared me to handle patients in the future, especially with techniques of patient centred care. I know what is acceptable in Canadian culture and to the Canadian health care system. The input from our instructors and Health Professional Consultant was very helpful to really understand Canadian culture and strategies to become integrated into Canada.”
