ACE Certificate in Advanced Grammar for English Teachers

The ACE Certificate in Advanced Grammar for English Teachers is a 30-hour online course designed for ESL teachers who are interested in becoming more comfortable with complex grammar structures.

Participants will analyze specific grammar structures and complete numerous lesson planning tasks in order to practice teaching these structures in a meaningful and interesting way.

Requirements

The prerequisite for the Diploma program is TESL Canada professional certification at Standard One Permanent (or equivalent). This means that applicants must already have completed a TESL Canada approved certificate-level program and have taught adult ESL for a minimum of 1,000 hours. Applicants whose first language is not English must satisfy the English Language Proficiency requirements for Mount Royal credit programs by providing a recent score on an accepted English proficiency test. (click here for specific score requirements).

  • Grammar Assessment

Assessment

Each of the 20 modules in the ACE Certificate in Advanced Grammar for English Teachers is comprised of lecture notes and a task journal. Students submit task journals to their instructor on an ongoing basis for feedback and assessment.

Term dates

The course is offered three times per year:

  • Fall term: September 15 - December 15
  • Winter term: January 15 - April 15
  • Spring/Summer term: May 15 - August 15
