General information
Mount Royal University is located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, near the spectacular Rocky Mountains. Calgary is a young, active city of one million people. We are close to the amazing Columbia Icefields and the famous resort towns of Banff and Lake Louise.
Summer Immersion 2010
- Program dates: July 5 - July 29 and/or August 4 - August 25, 2010
- Classes are Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 12:30 pm
- Each week's theme is explored through reading, speaking, listening and writing, guest speakers and extra activities. Assignments or field trips are planned for some afternoons.
Please note: This course is not suitable for complete beginners or for people with highly advanced English skills.
Core Program (8:30 - 10:30 a.m.)
You are tested and placed into classes according to your speaking ability. In the Core program, you will focus on vocabulary and idioms, listening skills, improving grammar in speaking, discussion, debate and everyday speaking skills.
Modules (11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.)
Each week you will choose which aspect of language you wish to work on (reading, listening, speaking, grammar or writing activities). Choices include film study, reading and talking about literature or current events, creating a newsletter, cultural exploration, and many others.
Summer Immersion Plus!
Do you want a more intensive study experience? Register for the Summer Immersion program PLUS choose one of the following options:
Option 1 — Online IELTS preparation course
- You will have 90 days access to an internationally recognized online course to help you improve your score on the IELTS exam or improve your academic English skills.
- Cost: Summer Immersion + $183.75 CDN (includes gst)
Option 2 — TOEFL iBT Highlights course
- You will receive 20 hours of instruction to help you improve your score on the iBT TOEFL exam.
- Classes will be held in the afternoon. (includes course manual)
- Cost: Summer Immersion + $190 CDN
Option 3 — Advanced Business English: Negotiating, Marketing, & Sales
- Gain confidence in your marketing skills through 20 hours of instruction using role play, feedback and lots of practice! (includes course materials)
- Cost: Summer Immersion + $250 CDN
