Mathematics, Physics and Engineering

Discovering the answer is just the beginning of the fun for a scientist. After exploring every angle of the answer, new questions usually surface and the exploration begins all over again. Do you enjoy problem solving? Do you have a natural ability to understand shapes and design? How do energy and matter relate?

In the Department of Mathematics, Physics and Engineering, it will be you coming up with the answers.

Well prepared

At Mount Royal, you receive a hands-on approach to learning. Small class sizes will ensure you have the tools you'll need to be a great scientist. All the full-time faculty members in the department have a PhD. The courses in this department will prepare you to pursue a career, professional studies or graduate school.

Engineering a great future

The job market — including oil and gas, chemical, computer, mechanical, civil, geomatics and electrical engineering — is strong if you have an engineering degree. Mount Royal's Bachelor of Engineering - University Transfer program allows you to get a solid start on your degree before transferring to another institution. You can take most of the first year and a half of the University of Calgary's program or take the first year of the University of Alberta's program. Astronomy courses are also offered as options.

Knowledge sharing

The Department of Mathematics, Physics and Engineering offers a variety of courses within:

  • Bachelor of Science
  • Bachelor of Engineering — University Transfer

This department also shares its passion for science with students in other Faculties, offering courses to students enrolled in nursing and aviation. Courses are also offered as part of General Education.

More options

If you choose to focus your studies in mathematics or physics, you can also benefit from the Mount Royal advantage by starting your degree here. This department offers a variety of first and second year university-level courses which are accepted at leading post-secondary institutions.
