MyMRU

How do I activate my MyMRU account?

You will need to activate your account the first time you login to MyMRU. You only need to do this once.

You are only able to activate your MyMRU account after you have paid your program deposit.

  1. Go to http://www.myMRU.ca
  2. Click the Activate Your Account link.
  3. The Mount Royal Acceptable Use Policies page opens. Read the policies, then change the answer to "I have read, understood and agree to the terms in the Acceptable Use Policy." Click Accept.
  4. An Account Activation form opens. Fill in your name, Student ID number, and birthday.
  5. Click Authorize.

You will be asked to set up a security question and a password. Follow the instructions to complete the account activation process.

How do I login to MyMRU?

  1. Go to http://www.myMRU.ca
  2. Enter your username (eg. John Smith 123456789 would be jsmit789) and password.
  3. Click OK.

I forgot my password for MyMRU. What do I do?

  1. Go to http://www.myMRU.ca
  2. On the MyMRU login page, click the link that says Forgotten your password?
  3. A Password Recovery form opens.  Complete the information required.
  4. Click Submit Information.
  5. Enter the answer to your security question, then click Authorize.

You will be asked to set up a new password. Follow the instructions to complete the password recovery process.

How do I change my MyMRU password?

  1. Go to http://www.myMRU.ca
  2. On the MyMRU login page, click the Change your password link
  3. Enter your current username and password.
  4. On the Password Change Form, enter your old password and confirm your new password.
  5. Click Set Password.

How do I access my email using MyMRU?

  1. login to MyMRU (http://www.myMRU.ca).
  2. Click the e-mail icon in the top right corner of the screen on your MyMRU homepage.
  3. The e-mail centre opens in a new window.

How do I add an attachment to my e-mail using MyMRU?

When you are finished composing your e-mail:

  1. Click Browse at the bottom of the window.
  2. Browse to find the file you want to attach and click Open.
  3. Click Add.
  4. Click Send when you are ready to send your e-mail.

How do I save to my H: drive when I am at the University?

When you are ready to save your document:

  1. Click File, then Save As.
  2. Beside File Name, enter the name of your document.
  3. Use the drop-down arrow to choose the network drive with your username in the Save in list box.
  4. Click Save.

How do I access my H: drive from off campus?

  1. login to MyMRU (http://www.myMRU.ca).
  2. Click the Student Resources tab.
  3. Click the link that says View my Student Mount Royal Files in the Netstorage box.
  4. Click Yes to the Security Alert.
  5. Double-click Home@MRU-TREE.

You will see all of your files listed.


How do I register for classes online in MyMRU?

  1. login to MyMRU (http://www.myMRU.ca).
  2. Click the Student Resources tab.
  3. In the Student Online Services box, click Registration.
  4. Click Look up classes.
  5. Use the drop-down arrow to choose the term in the Search by Term list box.
  6. Click Submit.
  7. Select the subject and enter the course number, then click Class Search.
  8. Check the Select check box beside class that you want to register in, then click Register.

How do I check my final grades using MyMRU?

  1. login to MyMRU (http://www.myMRU.ca).
  2. Click the Student Resources tab.
  3. Click Student Records in the Student Online Services box.
  4. Click Final Grades.
  5. Click Display Grades.

What are the browser requirements for MyMRU?

Internet Explorer 6.0 (+)
Firefox 2.0+
All browsers need to be set to allow cookies, run javascript, and accept pop-ups from MyMRU. Contact the Help Desk at 403.440.6000, if you need more information or assistance to apply these settings.

How do I check my class schedule?

  1. login to MyMRU.
  2. Click the Student Resources tab.
  3. In the My Courses box, click the link that says Click here to...
  4. Classes and the corresponding instructors will be listed.
  5. To e-mail an instructor, click his/her name.
  6. A pre-addressed e-mail window opens for you to compose and send your message.

Blackboard

How do I access Course Documents in Blackboard?

  1. login to MyMRU (http://www.myMRU.ca).
  2. Click the Student Resources tab.
  3. Open Blackboard through the Bb logo in the Jump to Blackboard box
  4. Under My Courses, click the appropriate course.
  5. On the left menu, click Course Documents.

NOTE: If you click on your course in the My Announcements box you will only see the announcements for the class and will not be able to see the Blackboard site information


How do I post on the Discussion Board in Blackboard?

  1. login to Blackboard and into the appropriate course.
  2. On the left menu, click Discussion Board.
  3. Click the designated forum.
  4. Click Add New Thread.
  5. Enter your subject and message. If you would like to post an attachment, click Browse and search for the file you want to attach - click Open.
  6. Click Submit.

How do I submit an assignment using the Digital Dropbox in Blackboard?

  1. login to Blackboard and into the appropriate course.
  2. On the left menu, click Tools.
  3. Click Digital Dropbox.
  4. Click Add File.
  5. Under File Information, click Browse.
  6. Browse to the file you want to submit and click Open.
  7. Click Submit.
  8. Click Send File.
  9. Under File Information, use the drop-down arrow and select the file you want to send.
  10. Click Submit.

How do I create a personal homepage on a course site in Blackboard?

Every student at Mount Royal has a course homepage where they can post information about themselves.

  1. login to Blackboard and into the appropriate course.
  2. On the left menu, click Tools.
  3. Click Homepage.
  4. Fill in the required fields.
  5. Click Submit.

PowerPoint

How do I insert a picture into my PowerPoint presentation?

  1. In PowerPoint, click Insert, then click Picture.
  2. If your picture is from the Microsoft Clip Art Gallery, click Clip Art.
  3. Search for the picture you want and double-click to add it to your presentation.
  4. If your picture is from the web, or if you scanned it and saved it to your computer, click From File. Browse to the picture you want to add and click Insert.

How do I add a Slide Transition to my PowerPoint presentation?

  1. Click the slide you would like to apply the transition to.
  2. Click Slide Show.
  3. Click Slide Transition.
  4. Choose the transition from the menu on the right side of the page.

How do I add music to my PowerPoint presentation?

  1. Click the slide you want the sound clip to play on.
  2. Click Insert.
  3. Click Movies and Sounds.
  4. Browse to the sound file and click OK.

How do I print six slides to a page in PowerPoint?

  1. Click File and then Print.
  2. Under Print What, use the drop-down arrow and choose Handouts.
  3. Use the drop-down arrow beside Slides per page to choose the number of slides you want to print per page.
  4. Click OK.

What kind of software tutorials am I able to access?

START offers a variety of FREE tutorials to help students learn to use technology. Our tutorials include:
