The Department of Education and Schooling

Mount Royal University’s new Bachelor of Education, Elementary will give you an extensive understanding of both the theory and practice of teaching, preparing you for a successful career in kindergarten through Grade 6. This program also prepares you for certification with the Teacher Development and Certification Branch of Alberta Education.

The Department of General Education
To give you a well-rounded education, four-year baccalaureate degrees at Mount Royal incorporate the 12-course General Education model, known on campus as Gen Ed. These courses will broaden your knowledge base by exposing you to a variety of academic disciplines, and help you develop important academic skills that will serve you well in your chosen program of study. The Department of General Education works closely with Mount Royal's academic faculties, schools and centres to coordinate the implementation of the Gen Ed program and the University Entrance option.

The Institute for Scholarship of Teaching and Learning

Dedicated, innovative and reflective instructors are critical to an exceptional learning experience. The Institute for Scholarship of Teaching and Learning encourages exploration of the teaching-learning process by facilitating teaching-learning research, creating a culture of inquiry, and advancing our understanding of teaching and learning. Scholarship and practice are brought together in creative ways by locating the Institute in the Faculty of Teaching and Learning.
