Calgary soprano, Michelle Minke, is sought after for her teaching, masterclass and adjudication abilities. She has experience teaching all genres of vocal repertoire in music schools throughout Calgary, Toronto and London, England.
As an avid performer, she is an alumnus of the Calgary Opera Emerging Artist Program and has been seen in operas, concerts and oratorios throughout North America and Europe. She has also been featured in international festivals in Calgary, Toronto, Italy, France and England.
As an engaging lecturer she is a frequent guest clinician and honorary patron to the Yellowknife Choral Society and is a full member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing. Most recently, Michelle worked with Calgary Opera to help lead their summer opera camp for the Kiwanis Girls and Boys Club and was an adjudicator for the Celebration of Music Festival in Calgary, Alberta.
Academic achievements include a Masters in Voice Performance specializing in Vocal Pedagogy from the University of Toronto, her post graduate diploma from the Opera Course at the Royal Academy of Music in London, England, a Bachelor’s Degree in Voice Performance from the University of Toronto and a Vocal Performance Diploma from Mount Royal University in Calgary, Alberta.
She is a recipient of the Richard Bradshaw Fellowship in Opera, the Eleanor and Gerald Copeland Graduate Fellowship, the Calgary Opera Viktor Roskey Award and Brian Hanson Award, the Canada Millenium Scholarship and is generously supported by the Alberta Foundation for the Arts.
Michelle currently teaches out of her private studio, at the Chinook Studio of Music and is on the voice faculty at Ambrose University in Calgary.
