David Ferguson

David Ferguson has been actively involved as a choral singer, teacher and conductor in Calgary for many years. He was appointed Artistic Director of the Choral Program at Mount Royal Conservatory in 1990, and directed the Mount Royal Youth Choir from its formation in 1981 until his retirement as its conductor in 2001. Choirs under his direction have toured nationally and internationally, have been consistent winners in local and provincial choral competitions, and have earned twelve National Festival awards. Following his retirement in 1995, after thirty-four years of teaching for the CBE, he formed and directs Mount Royal Kantorei, an auditioned adult choir of 80 voices. He was Chorusmaster of the Calgary Philharmonic Chorus from 2000 to 2003, and serves as Minister of Music at St. Matthew’s United Church.

Mr. Ferguson holds a B.Ed. (Music) from the University of Calgary, an Associateship in Vocal Performance from the Toronto Conservatory, and a M.Mus. (Choral Conducting) from the University of Colorado in Boulder. Widely known for his exceptional musicianship and dedication to the choral art, Mr. Ferguson serves as adjudicator, clinician and guest conductor.
