Alena Naumchyk immigrated to Canada in 2006. She brought with her many years of experience as an accompanist, pianist and a music teacher with exceptional technique and artistic creativity. Alena was born in Belarus where she received her early training in piano and musical disciplines at the Belarusian State Academy of Arts in Minsk. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Belarusian State Academy of Minsk in 1997, where she studied piano with the winner of several international competitions, Professor Sergei Mikulik. Alena worked as a piano teacher and an accompanist in her alma mater, the Belarusian State College of Arts. In 2007, Alena joined the Mount Royal Children’s Choir as an accompanist. Since 2008, she has been working as an accompanist with students from the Academy program. She now works as an organist/pianist at Central United Church and as an
accompanist with the Calgary Children’s Choir.

Alena is a supportive teacher and makes her lessons interesting and engaging. She also considers it her responsibility to encourage her students to consider hard work an important part of their piano journey. With dedication, any student can make strides in their playing and musical appreciation. In her teaching, Alena also assesses her students’ varied needs and skills. Drawing on a wide bank of technical training and diverse repertoire, Alena sets her students in the right direction but does not direct everyone along the same path. Believing that memorization is key to performer confidence and a solid connection with the music, Alena teaches her students to perform on stage from their first steps into music.
