Mount Royal Conservatory named host site for Alberta Culture Days
(CALGARY — July 10, 2012) The Mount Royal University Conservatory has been selected as a Host Celebration Site for the fifth annual Alberta Culture Days, Sept. 28 – 30, 2012. As a Host Celebration Site, the Conservatory will receive a one-time grant of $5,000 to assist with planning and coordinating the events.
Planning for the three days have been underway for the past two months, and include performances and workshops featuring faculty and students from Mount Royal; the Chamber Flutes, Derek Stoll Trio (Jazz), Holly Blazina (Flamenco guitar), Malcom Lim (percussion), Brad Mahon (Guitar and Musicianship) and Peter Jancewicz (Piano and Composition).
As well, the Conservatory will be partnering with other Calgary arts organizations including; the UCalgary Quartet, the Lily Quartet, the Calgary Fiddlers, the Cowtown Opera, the Loose Moose Theatre Company, Tryzub Ukrainian Dance Ensemble, the Chinese Youth Orchestra, the Matt Blais Band, and Philip Spink, filmmaker.
