MR Kantorei

Mixed-voice adult choir

Mount Royal Kantorei

Mount Royal Kantorei is proud to enter its third decade with a growing choir and newfound public interest. As the adult choir of Mount Royal University Conservatory, Kantorei is delighted to present a varied programme of performance and collaboration. Under the leadership of Artistic Director John Morgan the choir is adding members and has been pulling in larger audiences than ever. It is an exciting and vibrant time.

Kantorei is a mixed voice, auditioned choir that embraces a varied repertoire, ranging from W.A. Mozart to Eric Whitacre.  The choir focuses not only on classical music of all periods but also Canadian repertoire and contemporary works.

Through its connection with Mount Royal University, the choir aims to strengthen the musical and vocal skills of both individual members and the choir as a whole.  Kantorei has a unique offering of individual vocal coaching to all its members.

Join Kantorei for their 2016/2017 season in their new home, the Bella Concert Hall as they present and collaborate in various concerts.  The line-up includes Amor de mi Alma: Songs of Love (music exploring the Greek concept of love); Sounds of the Season (the annual Christmas collaboration of MRU Conservatory); Mahler’s 2nd Symphony;  a presentation of Calgary composer George Fenwick's  A Splendid Line, with Grammy award-winning conductor and violinist Andres Cardenes and the Calgary Youth Orchestra; and A Night at the Movies where great choral works from the big screen and video games come to life with the Kantorei Academy Orchestra.
