Registering at the Conservatory

Returning private lesson students must register by Aug. 31, 2011. After that time, a late penalty of $15 will be imposed.

Credit-free course registration

Registration for credit-free instruction is processed through the Conservatory office.

For admission requirements, dates and other information, consult our individual credit free programs listings or call the Conservatory office at 403.440.6821.

Fees for credit-free instruction must either be paid in full at time of registration, or by the installment option.

Persons registering in person may pay with cash, cheque, debit card, VISA or MasterCard. Persons registering by telephone may pay with VISA or MasterCard.

ONLINE REGISTRATION is available for all Conservatory courses. To register via the web, you will have to have a Mount Royal University student identification number. Returning students will find this number at the top of previous registration confirmations. New students will have to call 403.440.6821 to have an identification number established. Before registering, please determine with your instructor what class you will be attending. As an example, for private piano instruction, a half hour class for 16 weeks in the term will be VPIA 03016. From the myMRU homepage, go to 'Online Services'. Click first on the 'Student' tab and then the 'Registration' option on the left hand side of the page. Click 'Look Up Class' and choose the term from the drop down screen (e.g. Fall 2011 - Conservatory). Once you have chosen the term, hit the 'Submit' button. Then, click on the area of instruction (e.g. piano). Once you have clicked on that choice, click 'Class Search'. Register in the class you have discussed with your instructor. Payment in full by Visa or MasterCard is required.

Private lesson registration

Private instruction is offered in all areas of music and speech at all levels and to all ages, either on campus or in many Calgary communities through our Associate Branch Teachers.

Registrations for on-campus lessons are processed at the Conservatory, after arranging the day, time and duration of lessons with an instructor. (Student/teacher matching can be arranged through the Conservatory office.) Please confirm your private lesson schedule with your instructor prior to registration (length of each lesson and number of lessons in the term). Instructors maintain their own private lesson schedules and this information is not available to the Conservatory office staff.

Students taking private lessons off-campus register directly with the Associate Branch Teacher.

Branch Teachers: Download a pdf of the MRU Conservatory Associate Branch Registration Agreement.
