SHAOWU WANG is the director of the chamber music and viola departments of the Secondary School attached to the Central Conservatory of Music.

In 2002, Wang was awarded DAAD scholarship and then attended the Hochschule für Musik in Germany, where he studied under world famous violist Matthias Buchholz. Wang completed his Master Degree in 2004, and his doctorate degree in 2006, with the highest performance diploma from the Hochschule für Musik Koln's Konzartexamen "Music Master Class."

Shaowu Wang was one of the key players of Beijing and the Central Music quartets, which provided him the opportunity to collaborate with many world famous quartet and string masters, including: the Borodin Quartet, Kodaly Quartet, Trostropovich, Isaac Stern, Yo-Yo Ma, and the Amadeus Quartet.

Many of Wang's students have won gold medals in numerous international and national viola competitions. During the 2008 International Viola and Cello Comprehensive Competition in Llanes, Spain, his students won all the prizes in the juvenile group as well as the first prize for youth group.
