Welcome

Paul Dornian A world-class music program requires world-class faculty, world-class sponsors and — most importantly — world class students. The core applied philosophy of MMB is “learning by doing.” We use a mentor oriented training program with master practitioners working one-on-one and in small group situations to train and season our young performers. This style of instruction puts a strong emphasis on applied skills and the process of performing.

Morningside Music Bridge delivers an inspirational atmosphere to encourage long-term artistic growth. Students from Canada, China, Poland and around the world work side by side, experiencing each other's cultures and testing themselves on truly international stages.

The program began in 1997 as a Chinese/Canadian partnership involving the Mount Royal Conservatory and the leading Chinese Conservatories. In 2003 the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage became a partner and the first group of Polish artists took part. Most years MMB is held in Calgary, Canada — the home of the Mount Royal Conservatory. In 2006 the 10th anniversary was celebrated in Shanghai at the Middle School attached to the Shanghai Conservatory., ad in 2009 the circle was completed by holding the program in the beautiful Polish city of Gdańsk with the support and cooperation of the Stanisóław Moniuszko Music Academy.

The Morningside Music Bridge is the flagship program for the Mount Royal Conservatory. The Chan family (through the Morningside Foundation) has been our anchor sponsor since day one. I feel privileged to have the opportunity to continue to work with our students, faculty and sponsors — and look forward to sharing the experience with you.
