Michael Uzoka is a Full Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Computing. He holds PhD and MS degrees in Computer Science, and completed a two-year Postdoctoral Fellowship in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Calgary. In addition, he has qualifications in management (MBA) and education (BSc [ED] Mathematics with First Class Honors).
Professor Uzoka’s research interests are in medical decision support systems, evaluation systems, disciplinary issues and task analysis, soft-computing modeling, personnel turnover/career orientation, and technology adoption/innovation. Michael is a strong believer in the nexus of research, service and teaching in the creation of sustainable academic environment that impacts on the student, the professor and the society at large. He has published over seventy peer reviewed journals, conference proceedings and book chapters. He serves on five journal editorial boards/ conference committees and reviews for a number of high impact journals. Michael has an extensive record of research collaboration and mentorship, both locally and internationally. He is a Fellow of the highly competitive Carnegie African Diaspora Fellowship Program(CADFP), and has also served as an external Senior Research Advisor to Shell Petroleum Development Corporation.
