Mount Royal’s employee e-newsletter, Face Time, was launched on April 2, 2009. The web-based publication, which replaced Mount Royal This Week, was designed based on feedback from employees through the 2008 Internal Communications Survey.
External Relations and the Information Technology Department created Face Time as a way to address our employee’s desire for a more interactive campus publication, which can be updated as news happens.
A new feature, which allows all employees to submit full stories and photos to the publication, was added. While all story submission will be considered for publication, the Editor of Internal Publications will have the final say on whether or not submissions will be included.
Stories should not exceed 400 words in length, have a personal angle that makes your topic easily relatable and more interesting to readers and be written in an easy to read style that anyone on the campus can process. It should also follow CP and Mount Royal style guidelines, which you can find on mymrc.ca. The Editor of Internal Publications reserves the right to edit all stories to fall in line with the above mentioned format rules.
Due to the high volume of story ideas, event listings and notices received each week, employees will be required to use this online form to help streamline the submission process and ensure all submissions are considered for inclusion.
Face Time is e-mailed out to faculty and staff members every Thursday. The deadline for story submission is one full week prior to the publication dates. However, deadlines for event and announcement submissions for each week’s publication will remain Tuesdays at noon.
For more information, please contact Steven Noble at 5692.
Please note, if you have multiple submissions you must submit them one at a time.
If you would like to submit a written story with photos, please send it to Steven Noble (snoble@mtroyal.ca). If you have several different photos, with different looks or contexts, for the editor to consider that would be ideal.
