University's Open House a great success
Mount Royal recently hosted a landmark Open House event, our first as a university.

The result was a huge success by all accounts with nearly 500 more guests attending the Nov. 14 event, asking questions and taking notes on Mount Royal than there were at the 2008 Open House.

Potential students check out what Mount Royal has to offer.

This year’s attendance was tallied at just over 1,700, and many guests commented on the buzz around Mount Royal becoming a university.

Susan Gottheil, Associate VP Enrolment Management, says this event set a new standard for our Open Houses.

“Prospective students and their friends and families — as well as folks from the surrounding community — were obviously curious to see what Mount Royal has to offer as a university,” says Gottheil.

“They were clearly impressed with the answer.

“The range of degree, diploma and certificate programs; the personalized attention from students, staff, faculty and senior administration; the welcoming and attractive campus environment and exceptional facilities speak for themselves.”

Open House wasn’t the only success story for Enrolment Services this past fall. Campus tours nearly doubled from 161 in 2008 to 301 this year.

“While we always had high end programs and facilities it seems the name change is validating our quality in the minds of many people prompting more prospective students than ever to take a serious look at what we have to offer.”

This year’s event was held at the Roderick Mah Centre for Continuous Learning, which served as an impressive backdrop for our guests.

“It was a one-stop shop for prospective students to explore academic programs, ask questions about admissions requirements, and learn about the various services that support student success,” says Gottheil.

“The personality of Mount Royal showed and glowed.”
