Strengthening Community Leadership Learning provides a practical overview of the leadership learning landscape in Canada. With data from 29 interviews, 93 survey responses and a program inventory of close to 100 leadership learning programs for social change in Canada, the research team developed a series of archetypes and early findings that will be of interest to alumni, staff, funders, evaluators and developers of transformational leadership programs in Canada and serves as the first step to the development of a community of practice of social change-oriented leadership- a leadership learning community.
In this report, we share the richness of Albertan social innovation and the powerful and daunting patterns that shape us today. We also present pathways forward and invite us all to consider a common agenda to move forward together toward a stronger and more resilient social innovation ecosystem.
Working with the Institute for Community Prosperity means that you will be part of a dynamic team of individuals who aspire to live in communities that are prosperous – socially, economically, ecologically and culturally. Our work focuses on social innovation/changemaking, community investment, philanthropy and community change leadership. This position supports our changemaking initiatives, specifically efforts to create a culture of changemaking across campus at MRU and the application for a designation from Ashoka U, which would recognize MRU’s commitment to changemaking.
The Institute is publishing an ongoing series of mini case studies profiling the unique approaches of companies in Canada investing financial and other resources in communities.
Provides an overview of other post-secondaries that have also sought to create a support system for students and community groups involved in changemaking, social entrepreneurship and community innovation.
The Institute for Community Prosperity has appointed a new Changemaker in Residence: Walter Hossli will join the Institute's existing Changemakers in Residence - Jill Andres and Pat Letizia - in providing a bridge between academia and the community.
The Institute conducted an environmental scan of the major current socio-economic trends and developments, at local provincial, national and international scales.
Two full-time fellows were selected to explore, connect and promote the social impact community in Alberta with the guidance and support of a network of host organizations and expert advisors.
All six of the pilot program students were accepted to attend national academic conferences, which they unanimously called a highlight of their time at MRU.
