Mount Royal’s Business Analysis Certificate has been revised to reflect updates to the Business Analysis Body of Knowledge® (BABOK® Guide, Version 2.0).

Business Analysis Resource Centre
The Business Analysis Resource Centre is designed to provide students with additional resources beyond the contents of the classroom environment. You will have access to Required Course Materials, past Final Assessment submissions, Information Guides, Tools and Templates, Weblinks to BA Communities, Articles, Tips/Tricks and more.
The Resource Centre is an evolving environment; meaning, the content and information available will change and adapt over time. Our aim is to provide you, the student, with helpful, interesting, and valuable tools to assist you in your growing business analysis career.

Earning Your Extension Certificate
Complete the following courses (155 hours) either online or in class with a minimum of 75% attendance in each course:

Online Learners
The Business Analysis online courses are interchangeable with the classroom courses. To successfully complete each online course, you must actively participate in the online environment via discussion boards, self-assessment quizzes and group activities. Your final mark is based on your participation throughout the course.
Accreditation
The Certified Business Analysis Professional™ (CBAP®) designation is awarded through the International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA®). The CBAP® is increasingly recognized as the benchmark of excellence for the business analysis professional.
Mount Royal University Continuing Education and Extension is proud to be an Endorsed Educational Provider (EEP™) of the IIBA®. Courses in Mount Royal University's certificate are aligned with IIBA®’s Business Analysis Body of Knowledge® (BABOK®) and can be used towards the CBAP® designation. Gathering and Documenting Requirements
Business analysts need to be able to gather the right information, understand the business needs, document accurate requirements and make recommendations to help business area experts solve problems. Using real-life examples, explore communication and interviewing skills, reaching consensus and documentation models such as Use Cases, facilitation techniques and more.

Process and Workflow Modelling
People, processes, systems and structures can be captured in present state through diagrams that show how things work and what changes need to be made. Some of the many tools covered in this course are process mapping, process levelling, cross-functional and process decomposition diagrams, Use Case diagrams, deployment and more.

Enterprise Risk Management

Solution Validation and Assessment
(Formerly Quality and Testing Management)
Business analysts determine how a solution is performing once implemented, and help to identify solution gaps or defects. This course examines the BA role in the context of solution validation, quality assurance and continuous improvement. Techniques such as test plans, root cause analysis, lessons learned practice and problem tracking are explored.
